If you want, here you have our official encyclopedia of terms:

By the way, it is still in process of writing, but this is how it looks so far:

City-States:

  1. Bonfire Villages: Sometimes referred to as the Suburbs of Casus, the Bonfire Villages are a collection of fishers, farmers, nomadic herders, and grand estates. At a crossroads in the Kingdom, the Villages also see much traffic & trade. It all comes together to give the Bonfire Villages a homely appeal, but one with a diversity of flavors.
  2. Cursed Lands: A place desolated by war and magical corruption, in an event known as the Sundering. Its effect now corrupts all things that dwell in that area for too long. The people left behind from the disaster, became known as the Denisovians, named after their prior City-State. These people, and those that have immigrated there, are often at odds with the rest of the world. They inhabit two main locations: The Grayport, and The Retreat.
    1. The Grayport is a widely trafficked port-town with a reputation for otherwise illegal merchandise.
    2. The Retreat is the ruined capital of its prior city-state. Now, it provides haven for those who were left behind, and those looking to avoid the law.
  3. Death’s Due:These lands were once the city-state that most defied King Arrathan's expansion of the Casus Kingdom. They fought ferociously, but were ultimately out-numbered and out-supplied. So many died in the conflict, that the State was no longer able to sustain their economy, and so their way of life soon collapsed. In an effort to stabilize the area, the military of Casus moved back in and established order, turning it into a Prison State and executing numerous criminals. Now, Death's Due houses multiple prison compounds that utilize their captives for cheap labor.
  4. Empire’s Arm: The most successful general of King Arrathan, Lietch, took their army and swept east. As they quelled resistance and secured order, they would eventually settle down and establish the city-state of the Empire's Arm. It is a rugged area, far from the politics of King’s Crown.
  5. Fail-State: The kingdom of Casus once held two states nearest the Cursed Lands. One, was First Bastion, which still stands today. The other was Beirjan, which is now known as the Fail-State. Not fully understanding the effects of Taint, they were quick to turn the fertile land around Westfold River into a massive agricultural hub. However, disease quickly took most of the crop. Poor local governorship didn’t help the situation, leading to unrest, until finally a revolt broke out. Alas, the revolutionaries did not govern any better, leading to mass famine, and stacking the death-toll even higher. The area has since been abandoned, and is referred to as the Fail-State.
  6. First Bastion: As one of the nearest city-states to the Cursed Lands, First Bastion was established to secure the passage between Lesser & Greater Mades, and ensure that Tainted Creatures do not spread to the rest of the kingdom. However, it wasn’t until the Third King first instated the Bastion, that it truly became a territory. An influx of soldiers meant a new market demand for the area, and enterprising traders handled the rest.
  7. Great Lake House: Renown for their hospitality and ship-making, the people of the Great Lakes are industrious and well-mannered. They operate the great economy of the Casus city-states, with ports in every sea, thanks to their strategic positioning. When King Arrathan approached them in an accord to form the kingdom of Casus, he did so with promise of newfound wealth and opportunity.
    1. Lake Shine: Lake Shine is purportedly one of the first settlements humanity made after emerging from the earth. However, changing tides & changing seasons, have buried most of the old city beneath the water. Still, Lake Shine stands as a testament to early civilization, with many cultural landmarks.
    2. Gold Canopy: One of the few ports open to the wilders of the north, strangers and merchants alike hail from distant lands, and trade with Casus here at the Gold Canopy. The name is not only reference to the wealth made at port, but also the reflective sheen of tropical plants that tower over the jungle trail. At sunset, they reflect a brilliant golden orange sheen.
  8. Heartwood: The greatest calvaries in Casus belong to the people of Heartwood. During the first stages of expansion, the people of Heartwood were stubbornly independent. It is said that King Arrathan knew a land war with Heartwood would be far too costly, however. It wasn’t until Death’s Due was established, and all the other city-states signed on, that the people of Heartwood finally relinquished, and properly joined the Kingdom of Casus.
  9. King’s Crown: Capital of the Casus Collective States, this is the seat of power for the presiding government of Casus. It stands proud and imperious, looking out over the Greater Mades Sea. At its head sits King Arrathan, and all around, are his court and their clerks.
  10. Under-City: The supposed birth-place of humanity, Under City claims the lands surrounding the nearby Southbend Mountain Range. It’s beneath these mountains, in a place called the Womb, that the city-state centers itself. For some it’s a place of great freedom, and for others, a festering ground for dissent. Yet for them all, it’s recognized as a cultural and religious icon.

    People

  1. King Arrathan: The present ruler of Casus, his throne sits in the capital of King’s Crown, overlooking the Greater Mades Sea. Arrathan inherited the throne at a young age, after the death of his late father. His relative youth is sometimes a point of contention.
  2. Casus: Humanity was not always one kingdom as it is now. It took King Arrathan leading a campaign of conquest and alliances, to unify the city-states. Before then, the history of humanity largely consisted of small skirmishes and violence. Now, the kingdom’s population boasts double its prior numbers, and trade flourishes.
  3. Civnasnes: An old and powerful deity that once inspired violence in the heart’s of men, stirring them to war. It was with Civnasnes’ aid that the First King rallied troops to conquer the neighboring lands.
  4. Civnastic Aegis: A secret order of warriors that seek to discipline the destructive essence of the old titan God, such that they can better serve humanity as its protectors.
  5. Crownsguard: A military unit housed only in King's Crown, and under the direct command of the king. Considered one of the highest honors for a military career, and often carries special privileges.
  6. Denisovans: Humans who remained in the Cursed Lands, that have through the centuries been warped by the Taint. They often appear larger, miscolored, and misshapen, by human standards.
  7. Freedom Futters: The organization that claims responsibility for leading the revolution against King Arrathan. The motives of this group are often splintered and varied, but in some capacity, they work towards the image of a unified humanity, Denisovans and all.

    Things

  1. The Consensus: The Consensus marked an era of peace. It was the official documentation that signed the last of the city-states into accord with the Kingdom of Casus.
  2. Mark of Sedition: Those who are convicted of sedition are often branded with a hot-iron, permanently marking them as traitors to the Crown.
  3. Roc: Birds of prey that have been affected by the Taint. They appear like massive, molting eagles, with appetites appropriate for their increased size.
  4. The Taint: The strange effect of the Cursed Lands. It’s said to malform and corrupt living beings, often making them swollen and sickly. However, some creatures have adapted to the Taint, taking on various mutations in the process.
  5. Undead: The remains of a living being, that have been repurposed and puppeted by the same magics that created the Cursed Lands. They often seek only to devour other living things, with an almost animal like mentality.
  6. Worg: Wolves that have been affected by the Taint. They are typically stronger and more intelligent, but less prone to working in packs.

Gameplay

Now, if you are curious, how gameplay is going to look, here I will try to explain the basic concepts without spoiling anything.

First of all it is from platformer perspective, which means this:

And it is open world.

How?

Well, each time you get at the left or right end of your current location, you will have option to travel to other locations that are connected to your location by road.

Like this:

That is all that I am going to say for now, for the rest you will need to explore in the game.

What do you think? Post a comment and tell it to us and to the others.
